As we are still in the developmental phase of our project, we do not yet have regular open hours. Our operations are somewhat seasonal and we will more or less be shut down after late October. We will have very little activity after that time until mid/late Spring. Please email or contact our caretaker at the number above in advance if you want to stop by. Eventually we hope to have regular seasonal times and days for visits by the public.
We are located at Milepost 345 along the Black Butte Subdivision of Union Pacific, just south of the junction with the Central Oregon and Pacific Siskiyou line. Otherwise, from the South Weed exit off of I-5, go east (toward the mountain) one block to Black Butte Drive, by the Taco Bell. Turn right and go a quarter mile south to the first unmarked dirt road running off to the left. Take that road ¾ mile east to the railroad tracks. Turn left and go north 1500 feet to the gate on your left. Please check in and get permission at our office before walking around the property.
Coming via public transit, the nearest Amtrak train stop is Dunsmuir, 15 miles south of us, served by the Coast Starlight daily. An Amtrak bus running between Sacramento and Medford also stops in Weed by the Ray's Market most days. Greyhound serves Weed three times daily each way, running between Portland and the Bay Area. Siskiyou County Transit buses running between Dunsmuir and Yreka (Mon-Fri, maybe limited service on Saturday) stop at South Weed (Vista Drive and Shastina) by McDonalds, within a mile of our site. You can take bikes on these buses. Call 1-800-24STAGE to confirm times and days.
